Prompt: Teenaged!Daryan x teenaged!Klavier fluff. Not adults. Teenagers. Like, back when the Gavinners was a boy band or a garage band or something like that. This anon is not picky--author-nons and artist-nons get equal love from her if they can pull this off.

Daryan Crescend never had a problem being honest with his feelings.

If he liked a girl, he would tell her, straight out with absolutely no hesitation. Even if she was already taken, which was how he’d ended up stealing quite a few girlfriends. He’d even won the fights their ex-boyfriends had started with him, because he was just that good.

It didn’t work the same way with guys.

Not that he’d liked many guys in his life. There were the handful of models or singers or actors that he could appreciate, but as far as they were considered, they weren’t real people. It wasn’t like he could ever actually meet those people and they were just shallow attractions – based more on six-packs and cute arses rather than actual personalities.

So technically, the first real guy that Daryan had ever liked was Klavier Gavin.

No surprise, really. The guy was good-looking. Pretty, and somehow still masculine. He had the kind of looks Daryan admired in all those not-real guys, and at the same time, he was… a kind-hearted dork who tried his best to be cool. The kind of guy who would whine for an entire day and then make Daryan forget all his irritation in the end with one wide, bright-eyed smile.

He’d liked Klavier for something like two years without doing a thing about it. He’d dated girls in the meantime. Mostly blondes with nice smiles. They were all great dates and they had fun together, but Daryan knew that he was simply settling for second best. And Daryan Crescend hated settling for second best.

He spent every day with Klavier, writing songs and playing riffs with the rest of their band. Mostly in Klavier’s garage – or a local club if Klavier could take advantage of his brother’s connections. Klavier was the one person he saw the most – more than his girlfriends, more than his parents, more than anyone else at school. Klavier, being the frontman of the band, had taken to referring to Daryan as his “right-hand man” which gave the second-guitarist a stupid happy feeling every single time. If nothing else, he was important to Klavier. That was a hell of a lot better than nothing.

Still, Daryan could only keep secrets for so long.

It was after one of their jam sessions with the rest of the band. They’d created a new song, completely on the fly and Daryan had stayed behind at Klavier’s place to get the notes right and help polish the lyrics up. It was almost ten at night and when Kristoph had started threatening to break Klavier’s guitars (all three of them), they’d decided to call it a night.

It had slipped out when Daryan was unplugging his guitar from the amp.

“I like you, you know.”

Klavier looked up from where he was sitting, notebook on his lap and pen in his hand. “What was that?”

Daryan stood, shifting his weight from one leg to the other. Klavier watched him intently.

“I like you,” he repeated, a little louder than before. “I mean… the way I like girls. Is that weird?”

Klavier considered the question for a moment. “…I suppose it is a little weird.”

“Oh.” Daryan’s shoulders slumped. He bent over the amp again.

“But it makes us both weird,” Klavier said, speaking slowly and choosing his words carefully. “…I like you that way too.”

Daryan’s head snapped up. “Yeah?”

Once again, Klavier gave him that brilliant smile. “Yeah.”

Daryan grinned at his guitar case as he put his guitar away. Klavier didn’t move from his seat, but Daryan knew he was being watched. Once everything was packed away, he rose to his feet and met the blue-eyed gaze.

“We should go out some time,” Klavier said in a casual tone.

“You mean like a date?”

“Ja,” Klavier’s smile grew. “A date.”

“Do we have to hold hands and snuggle and stuff?”

The blond teen laughed, “No. That isn’t necessary.”

“Good. Date it is, then. Tomorrow after school?”

“I’m looking forward to it.”

Neither of them were strangers to dating. They were good at being the kind of charming date that got them into the good books of whoever they were out with. It didn’t work so well when they were together, as their dates ended up being nothing more than what they were – two good friends spending time with each other. They usually considered it a standard part of a first date to get at least one kiss from whichever girl they’d taken out, but it was different when they were with each other.

It wasn’t until the fifth date that either of them even worked up the nerve.

They’d gone out to watch an action movie they’d both been looking forward to, eating a late dinner before wandering back to Daryan’s house to crash for the night. Daryan’s parents were used to seeing Klavier there just as much as Mr. and Mrs. Gavin were used to seeing Daryan in their own house.

They were sitting in Daryan’s bedroom with the extra mattress already set up for Klavier and listening to some music when their eyes met and neither of them could look away.

Klavier felt a faint blush rise to his cheeks, knowing exactly what their unbreakable eye-contact would lead to. Daryan bit his lower lip hesitantly, looking almost as though he was trying to turn away while an external force was stopping him. They stared at each other in silence before Klavier cleared his throat, speaking in a voice that was much more timid than what Daryan was used to hearing.

“…Kiss me?”

Daryan laughed, more to release nervous energy than actually expressing any amusement. He leaned forward and Klavier lifted his head just a little so that their lips could meet.

It felt like the very first kiss they’d ever had with anyone, all over again. Klavier had missed by just a fraction, so their mouths weren’t flush against each other. Daryan’s neck was at an awkward angle and it wasn’t until they pulled away that they realised that Klavier had loosely wrapped his fingers around Daryan’s wrist.

Klavier expected Daryan to tease him for such a crappy kiss. Instead, there was a thoughtful silence.

“…Give me a sec,” Daryan muttered and walked to the door. Instead of walking out as Klavier had expected him to do, he locked it and went back to sit with Klavier on the edge of his bed. “Let’s try that again.”

It was Klavier’s turn to laugh, but it came out as a quiet chuckle, fading into a content hum as Daryan pulled him closer, kissing him with more confidence this time. Klavier hadn’t known what to expect Daryan’s mouth to taste like, but it was subtly sweet. A taste that combined with his smell to make Klavier’s entire body tingle just a little. A taste that Klavier craved the moment they broke for air.

They didn’t move too far apart, watching each other carefully to gauge their reactions and try to think of something to say.

Finally, Daryan snorted quietly, deciding that everything else could wait for now, and pulled Klavier close for another kiss.

x
